Five Friday Favorites – Five Things I’m Focusing On

Life is overwhelming and I have a lot of goals, ideas and plans for myself and my family.  But sometimes all of it seems like too much and I have no clue where to start.  It’s proven (I don’t know by who, but I know somewhere it has been) that when you create small attainable goals for yourself they are easier to achieve.  And something is also telling me that if I put this out into the universe and share it with others, I’ll be even more likely to accomplish things on my list.  So here goes.  This week’s Friday Favorites is all about five things I’m focusing on next month!  Perhaps this will spark a fire in each of you to check something off your to do list that has been there for way too long!  Happy Friday friends!

Friday Favorites -Five things I'm focusing on this month

Creating before Consuming

This is a quote I heard recently on a podcast and it really resonated with me. As a content creator, this one is a MUST for me.  I am making a vow to myself to NOT open IG in the morning right when I wake up.  I am going to do something for MY brand before I start consuming anyone else’s content.  This is no offense to anyone else, but it’s so easy to get sucked into the the black hole of social media and waste time.  Maybe for you it means something different, but perhaps we could all benefit a bit from not opening our phones as soon as we wake up!

Go to Barre3 2x/Week

If you follow along over on my IG stories then you know I recently started taking Barre3.  I’m no stranger to barre, but I am a newbie to Barre3.  And to say I like it is an understatement.  I LOVE it!  For so long I have often felt intimidated by working out in group settings.  I felt like people are watching/judging, but that is NOT the case at Barre3.  I’m so happy to be partnering with my local studio, and I can’t wait to share more of this journey with you!

Organize 1 Room Each Week

My house is far from clean and organized all of the time.  And many times I let the clutter pile up and continue to pile up.  This is particularly true in our dining room.  It’s right off the entrance to our garage and where we come in and out of the most so things tend to pile up.  Now that I work from home, I thought I would have more time to keep a cleaner, more organized home.  So far that has not proven to be the case.  But I’m vowing to change that in July and you can too!  I’m going to share a before and after picture of an area in my home each week over on IG stories.  If you want to join me, share your pics by tagging me (@emmyloustyles) OR send your pics via IG messages.  At the end of the month I’ll choose one lucky winner to receive a $50 Home Goods gift card! Giveaway open to U.S residents only.

Here’s a list of a few places I plan to focus on…besides sharing on IG stories, I’ll try to give updates in my Friday Favorites post each week in July too!

  • Dining Room Table
  • Basement closet (literally looks like a tornado blew through)
  • Layla’s room (finish the refresh)
  • Kitchen Island

Listen to 3 Podcasts Each Week

When I worked in an office I listened to podcasts all day. Most of those were usually about plotting my exit from corporate hell (read more on how I made that happen here).  But somehow I have gotten behind on my podcasting sessions and I’m going to change that in July.  There is literally a podcast out there on any and everything that might interest you.  Like to bake?  There’s a podcast for that.  Want to eat healthier, there’s a podcast for that.  Are you planning YOUR exit from the corporate grind, plenty of podcasts on that!  Here are a few of my faves. . .

Write in My Memory A Day Book 3x/Week

I have had this little blue book for several years and it’s still not full … which kind of makes me sad because it means I haven’t been writing in this as much as I should be.  I keep it on my nightstand, and the point is to write one memory each and every single day for 5 years straight.  It’s a great way to write down quotes from kids or fun things that happened to you that day.  It’s only $10 on Amazon.  It makes a great baby or bridal shower gift too!
