37 Things I’ve Learned in 37 Years

37 things I've learned in 37 years

How does that saying go?  Another year older, another year wiser?  As I make my way around the sun another year, I thought I’d take this time to reflect on 37 things I’ve learned in 37 years.  I’ve been compiling this list for a few months, and I hope to keep adding to it each year! Enjoy!

  1. Laugh at yourself
  2. Being a mom is the hardest, yet most rewarding job there is on Earth.
  3. Make someone’s day
  4. It takes a village! No matter what phase of life you are in, it truly takes a village so find your people.
  5. Learn to say NO.  You don’t have to do everything, and go to everything.
  6. TRAVEL.
  7. Memories > Stuff
  8. Your time is valuable (refer back to #5)
  9. Work hard, it pays off
  10. Don’t burn bridges, your paths WILL cross again
  11. Take risks
  12. Make time for YOURSELF (get the pedicure, go on the girls trip) … refer back to #4
  13. Things don’t go as planned.  Accept it and move on.
  14. You don’t have to have it all figured out.  It’s all a part of the journey.
  15. There really isn’t anything else like a mother’s love.
  16. Everything about your parents will make perfect sense when you yourself become a parent.
  17. Take care of your skin!
  18. Always take the high road.
  19. Never stop learning, teach yourself new things
  20. Trust your gut
  21. Always buy the shoes.  Always.
  22. Trips with your spouse are SO important
  23. Say you’re sorry
  24. Things always seem like a bigger deal to you than they are to others, so don’t sweat the small stuff
  25. Girls trips are also important.
  26. Buy yourself flowers
  27. The grass is greener where you water it
  28. Comparison is the thief of joy
  29. Choosing what’s next doesn’t mean choosing forever
  30. Be confident
  31. You can do anything, but you can’t do EVERYTHING (refer back to #4)
  32. Be grateful each and every day that you get to wake up
  33. Follow your dreams and don’t worry about what others think of them
  34. Find people who motivate and inspire you to be better
  35. Be proud, but not conceited
  36. Listen
  37. Take ownership

  • LOVE every single one!!!! After a rough night of not sleeping much and debating on wether or not to take the day off and focus on me…this read was exactly what I needed. Thank you for taking the time to write what we all think frequently down. It’s such a great reminder as we go through our daily routine.
