Definition of overnight oats
Overnight oats are made by combining rolled oats and milk and letting the mixture sit in your refrigerator until morning. The oats soak up some of the milk and soften, but also retain some of their chewy texture.

How to make overnight oats
Making this quick breakfast is as easy as combining ingredients in a mason jar and letting the mixture sit overnight in your fridge. Here’s a quick rundown of the ingredients you’ll need for this recipe:
Ingredients used
Choose your oats: Kodiak Cakes Oatmeal Packets are the perfect form of oats for creating a tasty overnight oats breakfast. You can choose from cinnamon, chocolate chip, or maple & brown sugar. We used the cinnamon packet for our recipe.

Pick your milk: Dairy, almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, they will all work well! I have been on a big coconut milk kick lately, so that is what this recipe uses.

Select a sweetener (if you desire): My kids love honey, so this was a no brainer pick for us! Pure maple syrup is another great too! You can also choose to leave out the sweetener completely and enjoy your breakfast sugar free.

Other add in’s: A great way to add a little extra protein (even though one packet of Kodiak Cakes oatmeal contains 12g) is to add a little mixed nut butter. Some other great options are almonds, chia seeds, or Greek yogurt. Shake up your jar and then place it in the fridge overnight!

Toppings: In the morning, add your toppings. The possibilities are endless. We used a combination of bananas, strawberries, and coconut flakes. We mixed in some dried cranberries too!
