I definitely don’t go overboard when it comes to fall decor for the home (or any seasonal decor really), and 2020 is no different. I decorated a tad sooner, but still just a subtle nod to the season! Read on for some simple tips when decorating for fall!

Mix old pieces with new pieces
When decorating your home for fall (or anytime of the year), I always love to mix well loved pieces with new items. A perfect example are these brass candlesticks I got from an antique store! I use them year round and have a set of about 8 of these! The felt ball garland is something new…as are a few other pieces shown in this post.

Layer your fall home decor
If you watch my IG Stories then you already know LOL! I recently showed my front porch rug layering skills and my husband was beyond confused. He even shared it on his IG stories about how ridiculous this seemed, but he soon received many photos from friends who’s wives have all done the same! #itsathing. It just creates a cozier look and more of a statement! I can’t find the exact plaid rug I show below, but this black and white buffalo plaid rug is great for layering!

Balance out the faux with the real
This is an easy one when it comes to fall decor for the home! Mixing real pumpkins with faux pumpkins is a must this time of year. I love the heirloom style pumpkins because they come in various sizes and more toned down colors. My go to place for these is by far Trader Joe’s! Can you spot the faux vs. real ones below??

Always shop your house first!
This should actually be first on the list, but alas here it is. So many of the pieces you see in these pics are items I use throughout my house. For example, the brass candlesticks are often on my mantle but also in my dining room. I use the felt ball garland throughout the house too – it’s fun to decorate the kids rooms with it! These square jute placemats are usually in my kitchen, but I moved them over to the dining room for now.
