There’s nothing better during the holiday season than reading a classic Christmas book together as a family – especially now that Layla is really starting to cruise with her reading abilities. Love watching her learn! Here are my favorite kids books to read with my family during the holidays!
Merry Christmas, Stinky Face // The Polar Express // The Night Before Christmas
Steam Train, Dream Train // Little Blue Truck’s Christmas // Construction Site on Christmas Night
Santa’s Workshop // The Crayons’ Christmas // Mary Engelbreit’s Nutcracker // Pick A Pine Tree {not pictured}
As we start to see and talk more about the holidays, one thing I wanted to share this year was a round up of Christmas books that we love to read this time of year. It’s a great time to stock up so you have them as we get closer to Christmas, and you can start reading. Or add them to gifts / stocking stuffers! Here are 10 of our faves!
You can never go wrong with the classics, which is why I love reading the Polar Express, The Night Before Christmas, and The Nutcracker with my kids. I’ve taken Layla to see the Nutcracker ballet the last 2 years now…hopeful it will happen this year but doubtful. 🙁 They’re timeless stories that my kinds and I both enjoy. When we’re wanting to read a more modern tale, I love Construction Site on Christmas Nite. It’s such a sweet story and perfect for your little ones who are in their “truck” phase – moms, you know what I mean! Little Blue Truck’s Christmas is another good one if you have a truck loving little guy. The Crayons’ Christmas is SO cute! We love this series of books in our house. Steam Train Dream Train is one that Mimi gifted us last year and has quickly become a fave year round really. Merry Christmas Stinky Face always gives us a good laugh, and my kids love lifting the pages in the Santa’s Workshop book. New to our rotation this year is the Pick A Pine Tree book. This one looks fun because we pick a real tree each year so I think the kids will enjoy this one!
Pin these holiday books to read with your kids for later!
