Ready or not, fall is right around the corner. Many kids have gone back to school already, or will be by next week. In honor of the season changing, I have put together a capsule wardrobe for fall featuring 7 affordable pieces from Old Navy. Each of these mix and match well with each other, but will also easily accompany pieces you already own. I am trying REALLY hard to be more intentional with the clothing I select, and asking myself things like …
“Will I wear this more than once?”
“Can it be styled multiple ways?”
“Will it hold up all season?”
“What’s the cost per wear?” … this one is the hardest for me.
Generally if the answer is no, then I have been moving on. I hope this capsule wardrobe for fall will help you be intentional as well when you find yourself shopping for the upcoming season!
Denim Dress
A denim dress is something you will wear season after season, and not just in your fall capsule wardrobe. I love the darker color of this one because it’s great for fall. You can easily throw a cardigan (as I will show further down) on over it when it’s cooler. This dress also comes in a lighter colored denim. I am wearing the XS.
Long Cardigan
If you buy one thing and one thing only from the pieces I show you, let it be this cardigan! The color and fit are perfect! You can wear it with a dress, leggings, or jeans! No doubt you will more than get your cost per wear out of this one! I am wearing an XS.
Cardigan / Denim Dress / Booties
Blouson Sweater
This color is my definition of the perfect neutral for fall. It comes in 6 total colors though so maybe grab another too! I would prefer this sweater be a tad bit larger on me, but they didn’t have a Small so I’m wearing the XS. I love layering sweaters over dresses in the fall and winter. If this one was a tad bit bigger, I would have tied a little knot in it over the dress.
Brown Booties
A pair of brown western-ish booties will carry you through all of the seasons. This pair is a faux suede and a great inexpensive option. They fit true to size.
Leopard Cami
This leopard print is one of the best I’ve seen in awhile. Not all leopard prints are great in my opinion, but I love the colors in this one. There are pieces in this print for your mini too! This was the only piece I personally bought (I have lots of items that are VERY similar to all of the pieces featured in this post so I didn’t need anything). But, this cami will be worn under cardigans, moto jackets, and denim jackets!

Rock Star High Rise Jeans
I grabbed these jeans at the start of spring in white, and wore them at least once a week! I was skeptical because I tend to be a bit of a jeans snob, but these are amazing quality for the price! I’m wearing a size 2 here.
Polka Dot Dress
Last but not least is this patterned dress with polka dots. It’s a timeless print and the colors are neutral enough for easy layering. It’s sleeveless so it’s another piece that you can build upon as fall approaches or wear it now alone.
