The 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is upon us. It’s a great time to snag some closet staples. Read on for all of the details, and for my top picks from this years sale!
This is such a fun sale each year, and despite 2020 being weird I am still looking forward to treating myself to a thing or two this year. Before digging in, let me just say these two things:
- Make a plan
- Don’t buy things you don’t need
If you’re not familiar with this sale, it’s when Nordstrom discounts a ton of the fall items from many of their brands. It’s a great time to buy splurge types of items that will be in your closet for years to come. Or to buy everyday items such as bras, underwear, and socks! Many of the same items appear sale after sale, but there will be a slight difference in the item each year. I’ll be highlighting some of these items throughout this post. And I think it’s fun to see what others are sharing too, it’s like looking at people’s Christmas lists haha!
When does the 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Start?
Early access for “Icons” starts on August 4th (i.e. NOT ME) LOL! I would imagine if you are here and following me, you may or may not have a Nordstrom credit card.
If you have a Nordstrom credit card you can begin shopping on August 13th (LIKE ME). If you’re unsure what level you are, simply log into your account and check. If you don’t have a Nordstrom credit card, August 19th is your date to remember.
The good news is, you can start browsing your picks now if you plan to shop the sale. Be sure to pin this post so you can refer back to it when it’s your day to shop. Many items will sell out, but often times restocks will be made.
What should I buy from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
Before even starting to browse, take a look at the items currently in your closet. Try items on and see what fits and what you no longer plan to wear when fall rolls around. This will help you to remember what you have, and not aimlessly shop the sale and buy things you don’t need or already have. From shoes, to bras, to kids clothing, there are plenty of savings to be had! Let’s dig in!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shoes
No doubt, this is one of the best categories of the whole entire sale! I snagged these Hunter Original Tour Short boots a few years ago in the sale and they are something I will wear for years to come.
If grabbing a new pair of athletic sneakers is on your list, check out the Adidas Swift Run Sneaker. I have a similar pair of these from a different retailer and they are some of my favorite tennis shoes! I don’t know if it’s my age or what, but I am all about classic shoes that are going to LAST. That being said I have my eye on these beautiful Vince Ordell nude flats this year. I just envision these being in my closet forever and me never getting sick of them. I’m also loving these classic Timberland Water Resistant Hiking Boots with red laces. With all of the time we are spending outside this year, I predict these will go fast. I love these Cole Haan brown booties I probably don’t need them, but if you’re in the market these are GOOD! I also love the Frye Charlie Bootie. It’s definitely a splurge pair, but these will last you forever. I have a pair of tall Frye’s that are in mint condition after 6+ years.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Everyday Basics
Bras, underwear, socks, activewear, jeans, OH MY! I grabbed the Natori Rose Dream Underwire bra last year in two colors and wear these every single day. If you’re looking for a great pair of workout socks, Bombas are a must! Stocking up on jeans and leggings are a great idea during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Zella is a house brand and their high waisted black leggings are great affordable pair for everyday wear! If you need some new workout tanks, I’ve got my eye on the Free People Love tanks. I also caved last year and bought the Spanx Faux Leather leggings. I wear them with everything from oversized sweatshirts like this and a pair of sneakers OR with a long cardigan and little booties. Treat yourself to a comfy pair of Moonlight pajamas, or grab em’ for Xmas gifts! I scoured the sale for the best deal on jeans and the Levi’s High Waist 721 Skinnies are it. I’ve had these for years and they are still one of my most reached for pairs. A few other pieces I’m loving this year. . . the Sam Edelman Notch Collar baby blue coat, this rainbow tie dye longsleeve t-shirt by DayDreamer, the perfect white cotton collared shirt by Rails, and this cute SubUrban Riot graphic tee.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Accessories
If you’re in need of new sunglasses or a great bag, this sale is a great time to snag both! I love these square RayBan aviators! And if you’re looking for a less expensive sunglass option, check out these cat eye sunnies by Quay! I’ve heard great things about the T3 ceramic curling iron too! I’m such a hat person, and I love this one with the fun band by Treasure and Bond! Go hands free with this sleek leather backpack that also comes in basic black too!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Kids Stuff
Great brands like The North Face and UGG are deeply discounted during the sale. Last year I got Layla some kids UGG slippers for Christmas. I sized up so she could get a few seasons out of them. If your kiddos need new waterproof jackets, these North Face water repellant jackets are under $40! I love these adorable little pink UGG girls boots too! I love these vintage looking Vans Mid top sneakers for Hen too! You can’t go wrong with cute little Tucker and Tate dresses for girls!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Home Decor
And finally, Home Decor. I don’t have much here, but there are two MVP’s of the sale year after year. First up is the Barefoot Dreams In the Wild throw blanket. I personally still do not own any of the Barefoot Dreams items, but literally everyone and their mom raves about these throws and their cardigans. And last but not least, the Anthropologie Home Volcano candle! These make the PERFECT gift so stock up!
