Summer is in full force, so I thought I’d share my summer 2020 reading list with you! This list includes books I’ve read, am currently reading, or plan to read this summer!
Stillness is the Key
I finished this little self help book in April. It came highly recommended by some friends + fellow bloggers. It’s a New York Times best seller, and I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for guidance on how to become a little less connected in such a digital world. It was interesting reading this during Covid as well.
Ego is the Enemy
Ego is the Enemy is another book by the same author (Ryan Holiday) as Stillness is The Key. I haven’t read this one yet, but plan to down load it this summer. It is all about how our egos often hold us back from things, or keep us from admitting our faults.
The Art of Showing Up
I finished this one up in May and honestly it wasn’t as great as I had hoped it would be based on some of the reviews I had seen. The basic premise is about friendship and self-care as adults. There were definitely some tidbits that stuck with me such as looking at friendships via the TME method (time, money & energy), as well as how some friendships only last for certain chapters of your life.
The Last Romantics
This was a recent book club read, and I really liked it! I loved how it was written, the pace kept my attention the whole way through. There were even some parallels I drew from the book to how life has been these days for us during 2020, and what things we/our kids will remember from this period of time. Add this one to your list for sure!
The Giver of Stars
Another recent book club pick, however time got the best of me and I didn’t get around to reading it. #reallife I’m keeping it here on my list because I always like to see what other book clubs are selecting, and maybe I’ll still get to this one later this summer.
The Five Love Languages
Not a new book on the market, but a new to me book that has been on my want to read list for awhile. I’ve heard lots of good things about this one, and it’s time to read it. Especially with all of the time we are spending together these days with our significant others, am I right?! 🙂
Marie Kondo – The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up
Another one I’ve been wanting to grab for awhile too is Marie Kondo’s The Art of Tidying Up. I mostly listen to books on Audible, but I actually bought a hard copy of this one. I figure it’s an easy one to pick up and read a few pages in from time to time.
100 Days to Brave
100 Days to Brave is WAY out of my comfort zone. It’s a daily devotional, and I’m giving it a try via Audible. Just a simple few minutes to listen to each day. Join me!
White Fragility
Speaking of stepping out of my comfort zone, this was another one. I downloaded this one early in June and finished it quickly. The book brought up a lot of viewpoints I had not previously considered, and made me more aware of things that I personally can try to do better. If you’re looking to educate yourself a bit on racism, this book seems to be a good starting point.
The Birth Order Book
My friend Meghan over at Cirque du SoLaynewas talking about this book recently and it caught my attention. I think you can learn a lot about yourself, your kids, and others based on birth order.
The Nightingale
Another friend of mine just finished this one and said it’s a must read. It’s also a best seller on Amazon. It’s a fictional book about two sisters during WWII.
Here’s a list of other books I’ve read lately too! What are some of your latest reads? Drop them in the comments below!
