I will be the first to admit, I’m definitely not a “beauty blogger” but that doesn’t mean I don’t have my beauty must haves for summer. A New Year’s Resolution that I made for myself this year was to start taking better care of my skin. I’m trying to educate myself on the types of products I need, as well as making sure the ingredients in them are safe for my skin. I have rounded up my beauty must haves for summer for you below!
Skincare
We all know sunscreen is important, and it’s definitely something I wish I would have been more diligent about in my younger years which is why I’m making sure my kids always have it on. This summer I started using the thinkbaby Sunscreen because it contains non-harmful ingredients. I love that it’s basically fragrance free, and it’s SPF 50! It also comes in a nice little stick version too, which is perfect for applying to sweet little faces!
A co-worker of mine (she has an awesome IG account so go follow her…@theyouthfulglow) recently told me about Vermont Bag Balm and the crazy results she had seen while using it to treat her cracked feet. I had actually heard about it from a friend awhile back when I was nursing, and even tried a little when I was desperate and in a lot of pain! I grabbed a can of this stuff when I was on Amazon recently ($10) and put it to use. This stuff has worked wonders after three uses! I just put a little on my cracked heels before bed and throw a pair of socks on. I promise in the morning, your feet will feel baby soft!
Next up is my Juice Beauty Brightening Moisturizer with SPF15. I put this on every morning before putting on anything else. I also have the Nutrient Moisturizer which I use before bed and have been loving it too. The scent isn’t overpowering either. The Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Cream is a bit of a splurge and I haven’t bought it yet, but I have sampled it and I’m a fan. #saynotowrinkles
Sum Bum chapstick is a recent purchase for the summer and it has kept my lips sunburn free so far! It comes in a few scents too!
Does anyone else hit up Whole Foods on their lunch break and browse the beauty aisle?? I recently came across these amazing make up remover cloths by Andalou (they also make a really great pumpkin face mask too), so I was already a fan of this brand. These have a nice rose scent too!
If you haven’t tried any of the Drunk Elephant products, they are a must! This Nightbright set is the perfect entry into some of their products! You get the Glycolic Night Serum which I use on my forehead and neck. It helps to dissolve dead skin cells. The Murula oil is great for hydrating your skin. I use this on areas that get really dry for me (nose, backs of hands, forehead). Drunk Elephant uses only clean ingredients in their products. These two products are specifically vegan and gluten free!
Makeup
Who doesn’t love leaving the store with a new shade of Essie? This is “Lighten the Mood” and it definitely does just that! It’s the perfect neutral/pink shade for summer!
This Pixi by Petra glow mist has been a fave of mine for a long time now. I just spray it on after I’ve done my make up and it gives a great dewy finish.
Tory Burch Flip Flops (old, but similar linked here)
Haircare
Dry shampoo is a must for me. I honestly haven’t tried that many, so if you have a fave I’d love to know about it. I snagged this one from Target recently and so far so good!
Hotline hair ties are just too cute on your wrist and hold your hair back without causing tangles! They come in so many colors too!
If you don’t own a Wet Brush yet, grab one here. I use this on my daughter mostly because you can brush your hair while it’s wet without the fuss. They come in a ton of colors, plus travel sized ones too!
I recently tried some samples of the Beauty Counter Kids body wash on my little ones and I loved it! I loved it so much in fact I decided to buy their shampoo, conditioner and the body wash. The shampoo is great because it doesn’t burn their eyes (no crying what what)! The conditioner has been great on my daughters hair after a day in the pool. I love what this company stands for and their advocacy for stricter regulations by the FDA on skincare products. Their products are formulated without harmful ingredients like bad chemicals and fillers, so you can feel good about using them on babies, kids, pregnant/nursing moms and everyone in between.
