The Madewell Bodysuit

I caved and reverted back in time. I purchased a bodysuit.  Or maybe I’m just behind the times…I know people still wear these, I however have not been.   But now I’m hooked and I want more!  I visited Madewell recently with some coworkers (did you know that if you bring more 3 or more ppl into the store its a party)?  Everyone in said party then gets 20% off their purchase (including jeans)!  Just plan ahead and call to let them know you’re coming (our store even provided sparkling water and sweet treats)!  I also bought my first pair of high waisted jeans (more on that in a future post).  Anyways, let’s get right to it…debuting four different ways to style this Madewell bodysuit below.

I am loving it with highwaisted jeans and boots!  This look is casual, but still looks super put together with a fun pair of shoes.

Madewell Song Scoop Bodysuit // Madewell Chewed hem edition // Sbicca fringe boots

Ok, so I also purchased this rose colored velveteen skirt while there (more on how to style this later too).  I think the bodysuit looks great with it and a tall pair of boots.  This could take you from day to night.  L O V E!

A bodysuit is also a great option for layering.  Instead of the standard cami under a blazer, opt for a bodysuit instead.

Lastly, throw on an accessory with your bodysuit.  A scarf or statement necklace are perfect options!

So tell me, do you own any bodysuits and how do you style them?

Cool, Casual, and Camo

Camo print is everywhere this season.  It’s a pattern that never really goes out of style.  I’ve had a pair of camo loafers and camo pants for a couple of years now and they are so versatile.  They come in handy when you want something different besides jeans or boots.  There are some really fun camo pieces for fall and I have rounded up a few of my favorites for you below!  There’s something for everyone.

Dresses

This one is by Z Supply and I recently got it in the Shopbop sale!  You can see it on me in my IG feed. I love how it’s a little longer in the back than the front and the cute button detail on the sleeves is perfect.  It will be great for fall/winter with boots, but I think it will look great in the spring too with casual sandals or slides.

Shoes

The Lancer Camouflage sneaker by Steve Madden is the perfect amount of camo on a shoe.  Not to mention this shoe is just awesome (I own it in the blush color and they are so comfy).  These shoes would look amazing with a casual black tshirt dress, jeans, or leggings with an oversized sweater.

T-Shirt

A camo t-shirt can go a long way. Pair it with jeans for a casual look, or throw a blazer or moto jacket over it to dress it up a bit.  This one is from Dillard’s and I love that it has a vintage look and feel to it.

Camo Pocket Tee // $34

Pants

A good pair of camo pants looks great with a plain white or black t-shirt.  I also love to wear my camo pants with blush tones too!  These are also from Dillard’s (slightly higher price point, but I promise you will wear them each season).

Camo Jeans // $89

Twill Jacket

A twill jacket is perfect for the fall temps and the perfect amount of camo for your wardrobe.  Pair this over a white tee + jeans and you’re set.  This one is from Express and on sale right now!

Camo Cami

Try saying that 5 times over and over hahaha! This super simple cami would look pretty chic with a black blazer or leather jacket over it + a statement necklace.  The price on this one is right too.

Missouri Wine Country (Hermann, MO)

Happy Monday friends!  I am coming off of a super fun weekend so I’m having one of those “fun” hangovers if you will.  We spent a glorious kid free Saturday in Hermann, MO at the wineries with our nearest and dearest friends.  If you live in the midwest and have never been to Hermann, MO let me suggest that you make this a priority in the near future.  It’s only an hour and 15 min from STL, and 2.5 hours from Kansas City, MO.

Our group of 10 met at 9 a.m. and boarded our “party” bus (aka, school bus turned party transit mobile).  Amtrak runs routes from STL to Hermann and KC to Hermann, unfortunately we were too late on booking train tickets this year (better luck next year).  We started the day with some wine tasting at the beautiful Stone Hill Winery (there are some really spectacular views from here, I failed to get those pics though)…just trust me on it.  The wine here is delish, our fave was the Hermannsberger.  It’s a dry red – perfecto!  It’s only $5 to enjoy a tasting in one of their beautiful and ornate rooms.  You won’t be disappointed!

Next, we somehow managed to find the only Uber driver in all of Hermann and he was wonderful!  He picked up half of our group and drove us the mile and a half back to downtown Hermann AND then turned back around to pick up the other half of our group.  We stopped in at the Star Lane Tasting Room  for another lovely tasting.  Try the Vin-Gris (another dry red … I’m sensing a pattern here).

We enjoyed a sweet little German band and dancing with the cutest couple (married for 59 years – relationship goals) adorned in full lederhosen at the Hermannhof Festhalle.

Before boarding our bus to take us home, we enjoyed dinner at the Tin Mill Brewery on their cute patio.  It was a fun, fall Saturday in the midwest!

Poshmark: What you need to know!

Poshmark is one my favorite apps at the moment and one that I spend a lot of time in.  It allows you to sell items hanging in your closet that you no longer wear to potential buyers and make money in a hassle-free (for the most part) environment.  It’s certainly not groundbreaking, I mean people have been selling their unwanted things on eBay for years (hello, I bought a car on there in 2006).  Allow me to share with you the ins and outs of “Poshing” as I have learned them this year.

Getting Started

  • Create an account by providing your first and last name, email address, and a username.
  • Your username is what shows up to potential buyers so choose wisely.

IMG_7276

List your items

  • Snap up to 8 pics of your items (i.e. front, back, tag, close up details).
  • Be sure to shoot in square mode OR take them horizontally  .
  • Take pics in the middle of the day when lighting is best.
  • Always shoot on the same or similar background as it will give your closet a cohesive and appealing look to potential buyers.
  • Provide a high level summary that hits on the main details of the item you’re selling (i.e. Brand, Size, Color) there is a 50 character limit in this section so be concise.
  • Next, go into more detail about your item…Does it have a white trim?  Are those rhinestones around the neck?  Are the buttons gold or silver? What is the length of the dress?  You get the idea.
  • Select the category in which your item falls (you can sell Women’s, Men’s + Kids clothes).  Then choose a size, brand, and color.
  • Provide the original price you paid, and then list your selling price (it will auto calculate and show you exactly what you will make if you list the item for that amount).
  • List your item and VOILA!

Attend a “Posh Party”

  • The app will alert you about upcoming “themed” parties which are great for getting your items in front of potential buyers.
    • For example, a party might be called “Dress to Impress” in which you are only allowed to share dresses.
    • Share any dresses you may have listed for sale within this party
    • Other Poshers may see your item and choose to share it with their followers too, thus increasing your chances of selling the item.

Share Often!

  • You will find the share button for your item at the top of your screen to the right of where it says listing details.
  • Click that button and you will see Share Listing at the top of your screen.
    • From here, you can share to a party OR you can share to your followers.
  • The more you engage with other poshers, the more your following will grow.
  • If another posher shares an item from your closet, it is common courtesy to share one of their items to a party or your followers.

You made your first sale, now what?!

  • Poshmark provides you with a pre-paid, pre-addressed label that is sent directly to your email address (just print it).
  • There is a flat rate of $6.49 for expedited shipping for all orders.
    • Each order is shipped using 1-3 day USPS Priority Mail.
    • Shipping is paid for by the buyer.
    • Multiple items from one seller can be added to the order (“bundles”) for the same fee as long as the total weight of the order does not exceed 5 lbs.
  • Package your item(s) and drop it off at a USPS mailbox.
  • Lastly, go back in and check off that you shipped your item so that your buyer is notified when their item is on it’s way.

I know it can seem daunting, but if you want to get rid of a few things, and make a little extra cash for some new things it is well worth it in my opinion!

What to wear to a fall wedding

Fall is one of the most popular seasons for weddings.  It can be somewhat challenging when choosing what to wear to a fall wedding depending on where you live because the weather tends to be hit or miss (hello Indian Summer here in the Midwest right now).  I’ve broken this guide down into categories to get you thinking about the type of dress (or jumpsuit) you may want. I’ve shared my faves below!

Enjoy!

Velvet

So velvet is a big deal this fall.  Shoes, dresses, tops, you name it, there is a velvet piece for everyone!  It’s soft and cozy, and it is the perfect fabric for fall and winter.  This amazing wrap dress by Leith is at Nordstrom and it is the most amazing shade of rose pink I’ve ever seen.  This is my fave, and I need to find somewhere to wear this beauty so I can buy it up!  Pair this with your favorite strappy nude heels.

Lace

Another great option for fall weddings and events is lace.  This sleeveless black number from ASOS is fabulous.  It’s not your typical version of a lace dress and I think that’s why I like it.  The bottom detail of the dress is the best.  This would look great paired with some nude heels (it has a champagne colored underlay).  In case you haven’t shopped ASOS before, I tend to wear my true size when buying from there.  They also offer a quick quiz you can take for most items which will tell you the size that you likely need.  Their shipping / return policy is amazing too (free returns)!

Florals

There are a ton of great floral options in jewel tones that would be perfect for a fall wedding.  I came across this one on Shopbop while browsing their sale that runs through 9/29, making this dress under $70!  I’m all about the little details, and the neck tie + ruffles on this one is simply perfect.

Shopbop // $60 (with code EOTS17)

LBD (Little Black Dress)

The classic little black dress is a can’t go wrong option.  You can dress up a simple LBD with a great statement necklace or shoes.  OR you can snazz up your LBD choice and go with something that speaks for itself without needing many accessories at all such as this Gianni Bini one from Dillards.  This is definitely a dress you could keep in your wardrobe for years to come.

Dillards // $119

The Jumpsuit

A newer, bolder option for fall weddings is the jumpsuit.  I think the key to pulling this look off for your next event is to not go too bold since a jumpsuit itself is already a bit bold.  A solid color with limited extras is the best choice for this option.  I found this one at Banana and it would be perfect for a wedding or you could even wear it to work with a blazer too.  Bonus, it’s on sale right now.
